I am planning to run the Edinburgh Marathon (29/05/22) and the Wilmslow Half-Marathon (20/03/22) in order to raise money for the International Rescue Committee, a charity founded by Albert Einstein to assist people whose lives have been affected by conflict and disaster.
Most recently, the devastating events that have unfolded in Afghanistan have been the major focus of this charity's work. "Hunger in the country has reached truly unprecedented levels" the UN refugee agency said on the 3rd of December. "Nearly 23 million people - that is 55% of the population [of Afghanistan] are facing extreme levels of hunger and nearly 9 million of them are at risk of famine."
Whatever people think about our withdrawal, our intervention, or the history of Afghanistan, we are responsible for doing whatever we can to help in this extremely dire situation so please donate what you can.
